Can you use AdSense and Affiliate Ads on the same Web page?

Well, if you read this article then I assume you already know what is Affiliate Marketing and what is Google Adsense. On Unifreed, I always talk about Google AdSense and Affiliate Marketing and I keep getting questions related to them. The most asked question is, “Can I use AdSense and Affiliate Ads on the same Web Page, Is it a violation of AdSense policies?

This is the most common question asked by Newbie bloggers who have started monetizing affiliate ads on their website and whose blog is also running on AdSense. AdSense is a contextual ad network and does not allow any ad network that advertises with this.

Can you use AdSense and Affiliate Ads on the same Web page

I describe an example of Amazon affiliate ads which is a top affiliate program. You can replace it with eBay, hosting affiliate or any other affiliate program that you can think about.

The answer is “Yes”, you can place affiliate ads on the same web page with AdSense ads and it also does not violate AdSense policies.

But before you start swinging happily and starting to add many affiliate banner ads and links ads to your blog, here are some important things that you would like to know.

  • If ads or affiliate banner/links are more than original content, then this will put your AdSense account in jeopardy. So keep the number of ads on your blog low and focus more on the website’s value and quality. I would suggest that you place the least advertisements on your blog. Place them in the sense that it does not interfere with the user experience of your website.

  • Do not associate your affiliate ads with any content that is not allowed in AdSense policy. Such as Adult content AdSense page treats any other ad (other Ad network or affiliate) as a piece of content. And so it should also follow its content guidelines.

  • Keeping affiliate links on your blog, keep in mind that they are the no follow¬†links! It has nothing to do with AdSense, but using the Nofollow tag is a good practice with SEO’s point.

You can surely use affiliate marketing ads with Google AdSense ads. However, before you get into the world of affiliate marketing, I would suggest that you learn the art of doing business. Then implement the ads. A good idea is to replace low performing ad unit with the product of affiliate advertising attached to your niche. Once you start receiving success as affiliate sales, more AdSense ads will start replacing blocks with affiliate ads. If you learn to promote the right product, you will easily start earning 2-3 times the amount of income from AdSense through affiliate marketing.
